Tips For Finding Women's Clothing That Fits Well

by Grace Wallace

When you are shopping for women's clothing you may have a hard time finding clothing that fits you just right, especially if you tend to have a trouble area, such as a larger stomach, small breasts or a bit of a flat caboose. Luckily, there are some things that you can do to help increase your chances of getting clothing that you look great in. Here are some tips for finding the right clothing, or making clothing look good on you by making a few adjustments:

Always try clothing on

If you know that you have trouble getting clothing to fit you right, then you don't want to shop for it online. Instead, go to the stores in person where you can try everything on in a dressing room. Also, taking a picture of yourself wearing the outfit can give you a better idea of what it really looks like than using the mirrors provided in the dressing room.

Consider layering your clothing

If you have a problem with your midsection, then layering can actually help. You can purchase a tight-fitting tank top that is made of a fairly strong material and wear that under your blouse. It will help to hold in your belly and give you a slimmer appearance. If you have abnormally skinny legs then you can also wear some leggings under your pants and it will help you to fill them out a bit more. If you are lacking in the derrière department, then wearing a thick pair of short shorts under your jeans can give the appearance of more in the rear.

Get help from special undergarments

You can get special undergarments to wear under your clothes to help. A girdle will help tuck your tummy, a padded bra can help you fill out shirts more and butt-lifting underwear can make it appear as if you have more of a rear.

Buy what you like and have it altered

If you have a very hard time fitting in clothing off the rack then you should find a good local seamstress you can go to regularly. Purchase what you like and simply take the outfits to them and have them make any necessary adjustments so you make the clothes fit you, instead of the other way around. If you do this then you will find a whole world of clothing possibilities will open up to you.
