When you have been invited to a wedding that has a chic theme or motif, you may find yourself wondering what you can and should wear to honor that theme and look fabulous in the process. Being a wedding guest is all about finding balance. You do not want to be so dressy or eye-catching that you take away from the bride and the wedding party, but you also do not want to be under dressed (making you stand out for other reasons). Combine a Fitted Midi Dress with a Bold Coat

If you want to wow everyone at the wedding, and look chic and stylish, you can try the combination of a fairly simple dress with a bolder and luxurious coat. This will help you to be prepared for any weather conditions, for one thing, but will also give you a few style options throughout the ceremony and reception. 

You could, for example, stay formal in your beautiful coat throughout the wedding ceremony and then, remove the coat for the reception to allow you more flexibility to move and dance. To make this look really stand out, choose a single color (preferably a basic, neutral tone) for the dress. Choose a bold color and/or pattern for the coat. An example of this would be a grey midi dress with a choker and a coat in an electric blue, dusty pink, or other beautiful and standout color. 

Choose a Dress with Jewel Tones

Jewel tones are deep and rich colors that can be quite bold and eye-catching, but in a classy way. If you are invited to a fall or winter wedding, jewel tones are just the ticket. These beautiful hues can be chosen to match the hues of the season. In fall, this can mean deep rich reds, oranges, and even purples. For the winter, choose deep blues, purples, teals, and greens. 

If you opt to incorporate jewel tones into your dress, this does not mean you need to choose a dress entirely in a jewel tone. This can sometimes make a bolder statement than you are looking to make. Instead, look for a dress with a pattern made up of jewel tones with a main color that is more basic like cream or black.
